How to Apply Vietnam visa from San Francisco?

This section provides guidance for those are permanent residency in San Francisco to apply Vietnam visa. United States of America is not included in the list of countries that allow visa-free travel, therefore, American passport holders have to arrange a Vietnam visa prior to departure.

People living in San Francisco have two options to apply for Vietnam visa:

1. Apply for Vietnam Visa at Vietnam Embassies/Consulates:

This is the traditional way when visa on arrival was not applicable. It is effective for all citizens and for all borders in Vietnam (airports, land or sea).
– Procedure: You can apply a visa to Vietnam by mail or in person at the Consulate General of Vietnam in San Francisco. Original passport is required and it might take around 3-4 working days for processing. You are advised to contact the Embassy/Consulate for visa application requirements in advance.

Option 2: Apply Vietnam visa on arrival with www.vietnamvisa.org.vn

Visa on arrival/Landing visa is very convenient for those who live far from the Vietnam Embassy/Consulate. This method is applicable for those taking flights to Vietnam and is truly a convenient, reliable way to save your precious time.

How to get Vietnam visa on arrival from San Francisco?

Submit the online application form and make payment;

  • Wait for 2 working days (standard service) to get your Visa Approval Letter via email and print it out. (URGENT service within 8, 4 or 2 working hours are also available).
  • Upon arrival at Vietnam airport, you need to show the letter, your passport, 01 passport photo and pay stamping fee in cash to get Vietnam visa stamped into your passport.

*For United States passport holders: From 25 Aug 2016, all US passport holders will obtain 1 year multiple-entry visa, following the diplomatic agreement between Vietnamese and US Governments. New processing fees and stamping fees are applied accordingly as below:
