Who can get a Vietnamese Temporary Resident Card?
Foreigners who come to Vietnam with visiting, business and staying purposes have been bringing a significant source of income, contributing to the development of Vietnam socio-economic. Who can get a Vietnamese Temporary Resident Card?
Temporary residence card (TRC) is issued to foreign investors, shareholders, foreign employees with work permits in Vietnam and accompanying relatives of TRC holders.
Temporary residence cards are also issued to foreigners with valid Vietnamese visas with the code NG3, LV1, LV2, ĐT, DH, NN1, NN2, TT, LD or PV1. The meaning of these codes is understood as follows:
NG3 – issued to members of diplomatic missions, consulates, representative offices of international organizations of the United Nations, intergovernmental organizations and to spouses, children under 18 years old, the maid accompanied during the term
LV1 – Issued for people who work with departments, agencies and units of the Central Communist Party of Vietnam; Congress, Government, Central Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front, Supreme People’s Court; The Supreme People’s Procuracy, Government, Ministries, Ministerial-level agencies and Auditing government agencies; Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, Provincial People’s Committees or city directly under the Central Government
LV2 – Issued for people working with socio-political organizations, social organizations, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry
ĐT – Issued for foreign investors in Vietnam and foreign lawyers practicing in Vietnam
DH – Issued for people who are practicing, learning
NN1 – Issued for leader of representative offices, projects of international organizations, international non-governmental organizations in Vietnam.
NN2 – Issued for heads of representative offices, branches of foreign enterprises, representative offices of other foreign economic, cultural and professional organizations in Vietnam.
TT – Issued for foreigners who are spouses, children under 18 years old of foreigners holding LV1, LV2, ĐT, NN1, NN2, DH, PV1, LĐ visas or to foreigners who are father, mother, wife, husband, and children of the Vietnamese citizen
LĐ – Issued for working people
PV1 – Issued for journalists who have permanent residency in Vietnam
Note: Vietnam temporary residence cards will not be issued for foreigners with less than 1 year valid passports
The validity of each Temporary resident card in Vietnam
Generally, the validity duration of the Temporary Residence Card is shorter than a passport of at least 30 days. However, each type of temporary residence card in Vietnam is different. Please read the list below for more details:
- NG3, LV1, LV2, DT, DH temporary residence cards are valid for no more than 5 years.
- NN1, NN2, TT temporary residence cards are valid for no more than 3 years.
- LD or PV1 temporary residence cards are valid for no more than 2 years.
