What is Vietnam Visa Exemption?
Vietnam visa exemption refers to the policy that allows citizens of certain countries to enter and stay in Vietnam for a specific period of time without obtaining a visa. Under this policy, travelers from eligible countries can visit Vietnam for tourism, business, or other purposes without the need to apply for a visa beforehand. The duration of visa exemption varies depending on nationality and purpose of visit. It’s important to note that there are specific conditions and restrictions for each country’s visa exemption policy, so it’s best to check with the Vietnamese embassy or consulate for accurate and up-to-date information.

Phu Quoc Visa Exemption Policy
Phu Quoc Island offers a special visa exemption policy to encourage tourism. Since July 1, 2020, foreign nationals and Vietnamese holding foreign passports can visit and stay on Phu Quoc Island for up to 30 days without a visa.
Key Points of the Phu Quoc Visa Exemption Policy:
1. Duration: Stay up to 30 days without a visa Vietnam.
2. Entry Requirements:
- Passport Validity: Must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry.
- Arrival Mode: Entry must be by air or sea directly to Phu Quoc Island. If transiting through other Vietnamese international airports (e.g., Noi Bai, Tan Son Nhat, Da Nang, Can Tho…), travelers must remain in the transit area before connecting to a domestic flight to Phu Quoc Island.
- Proof of Departure: Evidence of departure from Phu Quoc Island within 30 days, such as a return or onward ticket.
- Legal Status: Travelers must not be on Interpol’s wanted list or have been previously deported from Vietnam.
Important Considerations:
- Extended Stay or Mainland Travel: If planning to stay beyond 30 days or visit other parts of Vietnam after Phu Quoc, a valid Vietnamese visa is required. This can be obtained before arrival or on the island through the local Immigration Department.
- Travel Mode: The visa exemption applies to arrivals by air or sea directly to Phu Quoc Island. Entry via land borders does not qualify for this exemption.
