Temporary Residence Card (TRC) for Foreign Spouse/ Child of Vietnamese Citizens

The number of foreigners who get married with Vietnamese citizens has been increasing, as a result, Vietnam Immigration Department issues the TRC for foreign spouses or children to stay in Vietnam legally.

Who can get a Vietnamese Temporary Resident Card?

SOME MAIN POINTS OF TRC FOR FOREIGN SPOUSE/ CHILD OF VIETNAMESE CITIZENS

1. It is issued to foreigners who are spouse and children (under 18 years old) of Vietnamse
2. It is issued 3 years as maximum for validity
3. It is arranged as TT or VR type

HOW TO APPLY FOR THIS TYPE OF TRC

1. If you are in Vietnam and even you are holding tourist visa (DL), you can easily apply TRC with the following documents

  • The original passport of applicant;
  • 02 passport photo with 2x3cm;
  • Declaration of temporary residence address;
  • Notarization of Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate;
  • Notarization of Identity Card and Household Registration Book of Vietnamese spouse;
  • Form NA7 and NA8 signed and stamped by the Police.

2. If you are not in Vietnam, you have to handle 2 steps as follows

Step 1: Apply for Vietnam visa with TT or VR category

You can apply directly at Vietnam Embassy or ask the support from visa service providers like Vietnamvisa.org.vn or getvietnamvisa.

Choosing to apply at the Vietnam embassy, you should prepare all documents showing your relationship with Vietnamese and spend at least 2 times applying and picking up your visa result. It is considered that using visa service providers can save up your precious time just by sending all documents online, they can support you to get the type of visa you wish.

Step 2: Apply for Vietnam Temporary Residence Card

When you arrive in Vietnam with a TT visa type, you can continue to apply for the TRC with the same documents mentioned above. They are,

  • The original passport of applicant;
  • 02 passport photo with 2x3cm;
  • Declaration of temporary residence address;
  • Notarization of Marriage Certificate or Birth Certificate;
  • Notarization of Identity Card and Household Registration Book of Vietnamese spouse;
  • Form NA7 and NA8 signed and stamped by the Police.
