Collaborative Efforts Behind the New Route
Nguyen Thi Phuong, President of Prestige DMC Vietnam, explained that the charter service operates through a collaboration involving her company, Red Island Company, Centrium-Air Airways, and Prestige Travel Uzbekistan. The service is set to run from April 27 to October 31, initially offering one flight per week. Due to increased demand, plans are underway to double the frequency to two flights weekly starting in June.
Expanding Connections to the CIS Market
Nguyen Thi Hoai An, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Tourism, highlighted that this new route follows the successful launch of a direct connection from Almaty, Kazakhstan. She emphasized that the Tashkent flight reaffirms Da Nang’s attractiveness to travelers from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and reflects ongoing efforts to enhance international air connectivity.
An described this development as a positive indicator that opens new tourism opportunities in the promising region of Central Asia.
Active Promotion and Future Expectations
In anticipation of increased traffic, Da Nang authorities participated in the Kazakhstan International Travel Fair (KITF) from April 23-25. This initiative aimed to promote the city as a travel destination, showcase tourism products, and foster partnerships within the CIS market. The delegation also conducted market research to better understand visitor preferences.
Looking ahead, the number of tourists from CIS countries, particularly from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, is expected to grow significantly by 2025, with projections of around 10,000 visitors monthly between April and October. With the addition of the Tashkent-Da Nang route, the total weekly flights between Da Nang and CIS nations now stands at 11. Furthermore, starting June 3, Air Astana will introduce four weekly flights from Almaty to Da Nang.
Da Nang’s tourism sector continues to focus on diversifying its international markets and enhancing global air connectivity, solidifying its status as a leading tourism hub.
